For many years the Paper Cup Challenge was active in Penobscot Bay prior to the Covid era. This cruising class (jib and main only)/pursuit start race is returning in 2025 for its third year in this format. The name accurately describes the awards for this race series comprised of two races. Each racer will receive a ‘paper cup’ indicating their event participation and place. Both races are family friendly pursuit start races, the first being from the start line outside of Rockport Harbor and racing a course to the first finish line at Pulpit Harbor on North Haven. A lunchtime break will occur in Pulpit Harbor where racers can raft up for lunch. The second race, held in the afternoon, will race from Pulpit Harbor to Camden. Following the race, a catered dinner (tickets to be purchased on Regattaman.com) and awards ceremony will be hosted by the Rockport Boat Club in Rockport Harbor on Saturday evening. Note: all competing boats must have a current PHRF rating available through the GMORA and PHRF NE websites.
